Groundbreaking of new Agonquin Centre for Contruction Excellence
I had the privilege of participating in this mornings groundbreaking ceremonies for the new ACCE building.
Scheduled to open in the fall of 2011, the 180,000‐square‐foot building will house 600 additional construction seats and provide space for thousands more students studying in related programs.
The uniquely green, designed to be Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum‐certified, building will also be a showcase and teaching laboratory for best practices in sustainable construction. A sustainable environment is a healthy learning environment.
Another important point as to why this is so exciting is that we, the students association has pledged to help construct a pedestrian bridge.
This bridge will connect the new building with the main campus across the street; making crossing Woodroffe safer and more pleasant in the cold Ottawa winter.
This building is really going to set a standard of excellence! Check out the design at http://www.algonquincollege.com/expansion/ and post your comments.
